Renovation of a museum in Morganton, North Carolina. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a museum.

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction is soliciting for licensed Architects / Engineers from interested qualified design firms for the Museum Renovation project at the (Western) North Carolina School for the Deaf (NCSD) in Morganton, NC. The Museum is an 8,000-sf historic structure built in 1890. The structure previously served as the Superintendent's House. It now serves as a museum, preserving and displaying artifacts and exhibits related to the history of the campus and historic area. It will eventually serve as a multipurpose venue. Renovation and restoration shall include ADA updates and compliance; HVAC, plumbing, and electrical demolition and replacement; testing and remediation for mold, radon, mildew, and asbestos; shoring of load-bearing walls; termite damage repair; replacement or repair of all exterior wooden elements, columns, windows, and doors; wall and ceiling plaster repair; and restoration of brick exterior. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
