The Town of Buxton is soliciting sealed bids for hot bituminous pavement in place. This work shall consist of supplying shim & overlay pavement as directed by the Public Works Director. This pavement shall consist of a surface course with or without a leveling course. The Town of Buxton reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids. Construction Materials and Methods All construction materials and methods shall meet the requirements of the State of Maine Department of Transportation Standard Revisions for the grade and type specified by the Town. Work Progress In the event the contractor has other contract work which conflicts with the Town's paving, one week's written notice shall be given prior to starting this other work. It will be the responsibility of the successful bidder to complete each project with a minimum of interference. Method of Measurement and Basis of Payment This material will be paid for by the ton, in place, at the contract price, according to the delivery slips. The delivery slips shall conform to the requirements of the Maine State Standard Highway Specifications. The material shall be weighed by a licensed weighmaster on scales, sealed by the Sealer of Weights and Measures, unless an automatic ticket printing batch plant is used. No deductions will be made for the weight of bituminous materials or additives in the mixture. The price shall include obtaining and furnishing all aggregate and bituminous material, processing, heating, mixing, weighing, placing and rolling, furnishing all labor, equipment, tools, flagmen, or police protection, and all incidentals necessary to complete the work. Plant It should be noted that only bituminous material from plants certified by the Maine Department of Transportation will be accepted by the Town of Buxton. By certified, it is meant those plants whose material is accepted for use on State of Maine Hot Bituminous Paving Projects. Notice To Utility Companies It is the contractor's responsibility to notify utility companies of the contractor's intent to pave roads and streets so that the utility companies may raise their valve boxes located on the road or street at the time of paving. Sweeping Sweeping is to be done by the contractor. Proof of Insurance Requirements Proof of insurance meeting the town's specifications must be provided before the contractor begins work for the Town of Buxton. (Minimum coverage limit of $1,000,000 for General Liability & Commercial Auto Liability, & proof of Workers Compensation Coverage is required with Town listed as additional insured for General Liability & Commercial Auto Liability.)
