Renovation of an educational facility in Urbana, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
AE Estimate Less than $13,000,000 1. General Scope of Work includes a. Roof replacements at all areas except for the 1956 addition. The 1956 addition will be disassembled and rebuilt at a later phase. b. Stone cleaning and repair at all areas. Stone repair at the 1956 addition is part of an alternate bid. c. Disassembly and reassembly of a portion of the chimes tower. Work here includes seismic improvements in the east attic area. 2. ROOFING: a. Removal and salvage of existing clay tile roof shingles and ridge/decorative pieces. Shingles in good condition shall be reinstalled. b. Shingle stones shall be tagged, disassembled and stored. Structural decks under the shingle stones will be demolished and build new. c. Copper roofing and PVC roofing will be used at the reconstructed roofs in the chimes tower. 3. STONE: a. Sandstone will be repaired as noted with Dutchman and plastic patch methods as appropriate. b. Sandstone will be 100% repointed and cleaned. 4. TOWER: a. The chimes tower stone will be tagged and disassembled to approximately the chimes belfry floor structure. b. All stone and brick will be stored and used in the reassembly. c. Structural modifications will be incorporated to accommodate seismic resistance. 5. HAZARDOUS MATERIALS a. Asbestos abatement is planned at areas of plaster removal and sealants around the building.
