Demolition, site work, renovation and addition to a playground / park / athletic field in Morgantown, West Virginia. Design plans call for the addition of a playground / park / athletic field; for the demolition of a playground / park / athletic field; for the renovation of a playground / park / athletic field; and for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.

As of February 18, 2025, this project is in the planning and bonding process. The owner states that the project will go out for bid in May 2025. Closed solicitation has been included below for reference. ............. The Board of Park and Recreation Commissioners is seeking Expressions of Interest and Qualifications from architectural and engineering design consultants who will agree to the provision of conceptual drawings and public input services, as well as the opportunity to be retained for future architectural design, engineering, construction administration and inspection services for future upgrades, renovations, and/or additions to Lower Marilla Park. Marilla Park is a BOPARC operated community park and a major hub of recreational activity for the City of Morgantown and surrounding area. This park was established in 1941 under the Morgantown City Recreation Council, transitioned to the oversight of the Monongalia County Consolidated Recreation Commission in 1945, followed by BOPARC establishment in 1981. Lower Marilla Park is home to the Marilla Recreation Center, Marilla Pool, the Beverly Shumaker Tennis Courts as well as green space, athletic courts, fields and the Marilla Skate Park. The park also serves as a trailhead and is the home base for BOPARCs summer camp series. Lower Marilla leads into the upper area of the property via East Brockway Avenue, and houses a pavilion, picnic areas, playgrounds, a connector trail system and is the future home of the upgraded Marilla Pool. It is BOPARCs desire to explore options for lower Marilla Park enhancements that not only incorporate the already established areas of focus but also allow for strategic growth of services to residents and visitors. Attention to the need for flow of multiple activities and incorporation of natural elements to the overall aesthetics of the space is key. Since this park also contains a City street that runs through the middle of the property with Deckers Creek and the Rail-Trail on the lower side, there are multiple patterns and types of traffic that need to be considered. Portions of this park are in the floodplain. For a full description of the terms related to this advertisement and a detailed summary of anticipated services and timeline, please email info@boparc.org. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
