XL Construction has been awarded the UC Berkeley Bechtel Engineering Center project, a student services building, to renovate the existing two-story cast-in-place concrete building and add a two-story addition on top. The addition will be approximately 36,000sf and the renovation approximately 15,000sf. The buildout will include offices, meeting and assembly spaces, lounges, classrooms, a café, and roof terraces. Construction is scheduled to begin Summer 2023 and finish Q4 2024.
This project is seeking either LEED Silver or Gold. XL is seeking design-build exterior glazing and cladding subcontractors who are interested in joining the project team. The design-build exterior skin will be awarded on a best-value basis including a two-part agreement for preconstruction and construction phases. BID PACKAGE #3 Exterior Skin - Design / Build (License C-17) Estimated value: $6,000,000 In order to bid on this package, subcontractors must prequalify with XL Construction.
