General Scope of Work: Removal & offsite disposal of backwash sludge from the iron and manganese filtration plant backwash lagoon area located at 340 Hartford Ave (Rear) and appurtenant work. Work includes removal & disposal of wet sludge from an active cement lined backwash lagoon and alternate bid items for: A) sludge and plant growth from an unlined inactive lagoon, B) dried sludge and filter fabric tube. All work must comply with local, state, and federal requirements and regulations. A 5% bid bond is required and must be submitted with the bids. Contractor selected to perform work will be required to provide 50% payment bond. Firms must be able to supply insurance certificates indicating coverage as noted in the bid documents and the contractor will be required to sign an indemnity agreement prior to award of work under this bid. All labor performing work on this contract must be paid in accordance with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts approved wage scales. Certified payrolls must be provided to the town for all work performed. Firms submitting prices must be equal opportunity and affirmative action employers. Women and minority businesses are encouraged to submit prices. Contact the Bellingham DPW for further information. The Town reserves the right to reject any or all Bids in part, or in whole, as it deems necessary.
