Site work for a water / sewer project in Simi Valley, California. Conceptual plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
This project would replace the 1 million gallon capacity Stearns Tank No. 2 that has been in service since 1975. The Seismic Evaluation of the Waterworks Storage Tank System, conducted by a consultant in 2020, identified that the strength of the tank shell was insufficient, the tank needs to be anchored, and a ring wall needs to be constructed to support the structure to meet current seismic code requirements. Due to the age and overall condition of the tank, staff recommends replacing the existing tank with a new welded steel tank that meets the current seismic code requirements to ensure the reliability of the system. It is anticipated that the design and construction will be completed in FY 2029-30 The project is included in the City's 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of April 15, 2026, further details have not yet been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly.
