The Seismic Evaluation of the Waterworks Storage Tank System, conducted by Kennedy Jenks Consultants in 2020, identified that the strength of the tank shell was insufficient, the tank needs to be anchored, and a ring wall needs to be constructed to support the structure to meet current seismic code requirements. Due to the age and overall condition of the tank, staff recommends replacing the existing tank with a new welded steel tank that meets the current seismic code requirements to ensure the reliability of the system. Design is expected to be completed in March 2025 and construction is expected to be completed by February 2027.
