The Town of Whitecourt is currently seeking proposals from qualified firms for residential recycling and solid waste services. This includes the weekly curbside collection of recycling and solid waste material from approximately 2616 collection points, including single family homes, duplexes, triplexes, and select town facilities. The program currently generates approximately 2,200 metric tonnes of solid waste and 220 metric tonnes of recycling per year. The work includes: a) Weekly curbside collection of residential solid waste using 65-gallon automated bins. b) Hauling and disposal of residential solid waste to the Whitecourt Regional Landfill, located 18 km southeast of Whitecourt. c) Weekly curbside collection of residential recycling using a blue bag program. d) Hauling, disposal, and processing of residential recycling to a recycling facility approved by Alberta Environment and Parks. e) Education campaign for the general public, focused on waste diversion and recycling/solid waste best practices.
