Reference Number 0000225780 Source ID FD.CC.ON.862519.C98880 Bid Intent Not Available The goal of the project is to collect sufficient information to assess the performance, integrity and stability of the landfills located at DND's former Distant Early Warning (DEW) Line sites from a geotechnical and environmental perspective, for the protection of human health and the environment. The work will take place at six (6) former DEW Line sites in Yukon and Northwest Territories within the Inuvialuit Settlement Region (ISR). The monitoring program is designed to satisfy the post-closure monitoring requirements for landfills at the DEW Line sites as dictated by an agreement between DND and the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC; Cooperation Agreement [1996]). The contract will include all field work, health and safety, and logistics planning; execution of field programs; and subsequent reporting. Arranging chartered flights and camping overnight at some of the sites will be required. Field activities will include visual inspection of the landfills, documentation of landfill conditions, Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) surveying, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, thermal monitoring and minor maintenance of existing monitoring wells and thermistors. The contract may include other studies and/or work activities at the direction of DCC/DND such as completion of topographic surveys and preparation of cost estimates for potential future landfill maintenance and repair work. It is anticipated that this solicitation will be initiated in July 2022. The project will include participation requirements for Inuvialuit employees and businesses. The project is conditional on the contract receiving approval to proceed by the Department of National Defence (DND).
