The City of Laconia Department of Public Works is requesting Letters of Qualifications from interested civil engineering firms for services including but not limited to the study, preliminary design, final design and construction engineering for Weirs Blvd (US 3) Bridge over Langley Brook (Bridge No 135/128, DOT Project #43845), Centenary Ave Bridge over NH Railroad (Bridge No 126/163, DOT Project #24181), and Hilliard Road over Pickerel Cove Brook (Bridge No 112/147) and construction engineering for Academy Street Bridge over Durkee Brook (Bridge No 121/037, DOT Project #26706) Weirs Blvd Bridge (135/128) is a single span, steel girder superstructure with concrete precast panel deck on a stone masonry substructure. The jack-arch section of the bridge will require replacement and the roadway will be widened to support a turning lane for a proposed housing development. Centenary Ave Bridge (126/163) is a timber bridge which spans NH DOT railroad. The bridge is scheduled for rehabilitation. Hilliard Road over Pickerel Cove (112/147) is currently a series of culverts that has been classified as a bridge. Academy Street Bridge (121/037) is awaiting approval for design by NH DOT and is scheduled for a construction start in 2023. In accordance with NH DOT requirements, a separate engineering firm is being sought to provide Construction Engineering services. The selection process will be in compliance with the guidelines established for municipally managed bridge aid program projects and shall comply with RSA 21-I:22. Firms to be considered for selection must demonstrate experience in bridge design and have a minimum of two licensed professional engineers on staff, one of whom shall be registered in the branch classification of structural engineer. The City reserves the right to select one or more consultants. Services are for one (1) year but may be extended annually for up to four (4) additional one-year periods, depending on satisfactory performance (as determined by the City) necessity and funding. Services under this request may extend beyond the scope listed above. The City of Laconia reserves the right to accept or reject any or all submissions, to waiver technical or legal deficiencies, and to accept, in part or in whole, any submission that it deems, at its sole discretion, to be in the best interest of the City of Laconia. The City also reserves the right to cancel this request for qualifications at any time for any reason.
