The City of New Smyrna Beach, Florida is soliciting Invitation to Bid 41-22-CIP, Old Fort Wall Repair and Restoration - Rebid, to select a qualified Contractor to coordinate and perform restoration and reconstruction of a historical landmark, Old Fort Wall, located at 115 Julia St., City of New Smyrna Beach Florida. Deadline for Written Questions:October 10, 2022, 5:00pm The subject structure is a coquina block gravity wall approximately 375 linear feet in length constructed in approximately 1933. There are three major areas of damage where cracking and separation of the coquina block have occurred. The following is a general description of the work required and not intended to be all-inclusive: The scope of work consists of survey, earthwork, concrete foundation construction, sidewalk and curb construction. The project will require excavation to construct a supporting foundation and shoring/monitoring of the existing structure to ensure no further damage occurs during construction. This brick wall is located on a registered archeological site in the New Smyrna Beach Historic District. A licensed Archaeologists is required to be on-site at all times that excavation or ground disturbing activities occur on the Old Fort Wall Site. The Contractor will be required to work with the city Archeologists and the city building department to provide access for Archeological monitoring per Chapter 50 of the City Code of Ordinances. When the Contract has been executed on the part of the Owner, it shall be forwarded to the Contractor together with the Notice to Proceed. The Notice to Proceed shall include the time for completion. The Contractor shall begin construction operations at the site within ten (10) days after the date of such notice. The contact time shall begin ten (10) days after the date of the Notice to Proceed.
