Site work for a water / sewer project in Babylon, New York. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

The Suffolk Department of Public Works (SCDPW) is seeking to rehabilitate Deer Lake, an artificial, privately owned lake located in the Towns of Islip and Babylon. The lake is managed by the Deer Lake Homeowner's Association consisting of local residents and homeowners. The lake has a documented history of extreme water loss during the drought seasons. The project proposes to mitigate waning water levels of the lake (in a separate project), provide a public fishing pier, public access to the lake and off street parking. The Project drawings and specifications developed by P.W. Grosser contained in this offering illustrate all work to be performed. The work includes but is not limited to: The Suffolk County Department of Public Works (SCDPW) will be installing a fishing pier on the southern end of Deer Lake (also known as Guggenheim Lake) located in West Islip, New York. The pier will be constructed off Kime Avenue and will extend approximately 13 feet into Deer Lake. The existing site is predominately undeveloped with overgrown vegetation. The site contains a concrete weir in the northwest corner and a concrete retaining wall in the northeast corner, which will remain. The proposed work will include clearing select vegetation, cutting and removing portions of the existing curb along Kime Avenue, constructing a parking area with ADA access, and constructing a concrete walkway from the parking area to the pier. The proposed pressure-treated, timber pier will be supported on piles. It is intended that the work under this project to be completed substantially within 150 days after issuance of the Notice to Proceed. There are no bid security requirements. There are no payment or material bond requirements however a 10% retainage will be held from each payment application until the approved final application for payment is made. Refer to General Conditions. The work will entail construction of pier, concrete sidewalk to connect to the roadway from Kime Avenue, grading, construction of two parking spaces. The areas surrounding the proposed structures will be restored with native vegetation. The plantings will consist of Canadian Serviceberry, Red Maple, Silky Dogwood, Pennsylvania Sedge, Summersweet Clethra, and grass seed. The representative of the Department of Public Works shall have the right to reject defective material and workmanship or require its correction, based on results of inspection or testing. Rejected workmanship shall be satisfactorily corrected and rejected material shall be satisfactorily replaced with proper material without charge therefore and the Contractor shall promptly segregate and remove the rejected material from the premises. If the contractor fails to proceed at once with replacement of rejected material, correction of defective workmanship and required retesting, the Owner may, by contract or otherwise, replace such material or correct such workmanship and charge the cost to the Contractor. Three percent (3%) of the goal for non-manufacturing supplier (M/WBE)
