The objective of this project is to develop a Fuel Management Prescription (FMP) for a Landscape Fuel Break (LFB). The LFB is approximately 540 hectares. It is 300 meters wide and approximately 18 kilometers long. It is adjacent to the Helena Lake Forest Service Road, which is northwest of the town on 100 Mile House. The work will consist of 1) initial recce, layout, and GPS of treatment units on 471.2 hectares; and 2) a Fuel Management Prescription for 539.2 hectares. The 68-hectare difference is associated with a portion of wildfire salvage that does not require layout and GPS. An initial reconnaissance and timber typing work was completed in winter 2021. The report is included in this contract as an Appendix. The "2021 FUEL MANAGEMENT PRESCRIPTION GUIDEANCE is an integral part of this contract and must be adhered to when developing the FMP. It is included in this contract as an Appendix.
