Couchiching First Nation is inviting prospective Respondents to pre-qualify to bid for Phase 2 of the remediation of the Former INAC Leased Industrial Properties, located in Couchiching First Nation, northeast of Fort Frances, Ontario, Federal Contaminated Sites Inventory (FCSI) #5152001. The anticipated remediation schedule is approximately three to five years starting in Spring 2023. The Phase 2 remediation work at the site will include grubbing, debris removal, excavation of approximately 70,000 cubic metres of non-hazardous contaminated soil/buried debris, backfilling with clean fill, revegetation and shoreline/wetland restoration. Contaminants of concern primarily include dioxins and furans with areas containing petroleum hydrocarbons, volatile organic compounds, metals, polyaromatic hydrocarbons, polychlorinated biphenyls and chlorophenols. Excavated soils will be transported to an off-site landfill. A maximum of five (5) Respondents to the RFQ will be short-listed and invited to bid. Bids are scheduled to be called in August 2022.
