The Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nation (NFN) is seeking bids from General Contractors for the supply and installation of a new wastewater collection and treatment system to service their Community. Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nation (Rainy Lake 26A) is located in northwestern Ontario approximately 40 kilometers east of Fort Frances. The Project Management Team (PMT) includes representatives of the Owner (NFN), the Professional Project Manager (Keewatin-Aski Ltd) and the Engineer and Contract Administrator (Neegan Burnside Ltd.). The Project will include the following main works: - Construction of a wastewater collection system that will consist of approximately 54 preselected septic tank effluent pumping (STEP) systems located at existing homes and community buildings; - Construction of approximately 2,835 m of low pressure sanitary forcemain and precast concrete chambers. - Construction of the proposed wastewater treatment system, consisting of a membrane bioreactor (MBR) packaged wastewater treatment plant complete with tankage, outfall pipe, and outfall structure; - Infrastructure upgrades to the wastewater treatment plant; and - Decommissioning of both peat-based and conventional existing septic systems. *Award value was not released for publication. Work commenced earlier this year. Timelines have been estimated.
