The Work consists of construction of a new egress corridor requiring minor renovations to the ceiling, flooring, doors, and painting at Montgomery County High School; and construction of a new secure entrance with minor renovations of flooring, ceilings, aluminum storefront and doors. The Work includes, but is not limited to selective demolition, cast-in-place concrete, unit masonry, metal fabrications, joint sealants, aluminum framed entrances and storefronts, glazing, resilient flooring, painting, signs, protective covers and clean-up and removal of construction debris. The Montgomery County Schools will receive lump sum sealed bids on a general contract for a Front Foyer Entrance at Montgomery County High School Downloadable copies of the documents are available to Contractors for free from Lynn Imaging. Deposits will be refunded to contractors who submit a bona fide proposal to the Owner (directly or through a prime contractor) and return the documents, in an acceptable and reusable condition within ten days of the opening of the bids. Partial sets of documents are not available from the office of the Architect. Bid Guaranty in the form of a Bid Bond (Proposal bonds with Contractor acting as surety are not acceptable), Certified Check, or cash shall accompany each bid. The amount of the bid Guaranty shall be not less than five percent (5%) of the Bid set forth in the Proposal Form. All bid Guaranties shall be made payable to Montgomery County Schools. No bids may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for receipt of bids for a period of sixty (60) days therefrom. The Owner reserves the right to determine the ability of any bidder to perform the work, and upon the request of the Owner, any bidder shall furnish such information as may be required to make this determination. The successful bidder shall be required to furnish a performance and payment bond and a material and payment bond in an amount equal to at least One Hundred Percent (100%) of the Contract price. The premium for the bonds shall be included in the proposal amount(s). The Owner reserves the right to accept any bid, to reject any or all bids, to waive any informalities in bids received where such acceptance, rejection or waiver is considered to be in the best interest of the Owner and to reject any bid where evidence of information submitted by the bidder does not satisfy the Owner that the Bidder is qualified to carry out the details of the Contract Documents.
