Furnish and install a chemical feed system in an existing building next to Lake Sharp. The chemical feed system includes 1-inch pipe to the intake screen in the lake; an assembly of pump, valves, pipe, fittings and related items; a shroud over the intake screen to direct chemical to kill zebra mussels; various connections and supports; drum scale and two 55-gallon drums of chemical. General electrical work will be required for wiring and controls. The site shall be graded and seeded along with silt fence for siltation control. A portion of the existing chain linked fence shall be removed, salvaged and reinstalled. The intake screen shall be removed and replaced with a new screen and HDPE pipe flange adaptors. The existing 1,800 LF of 16-inch HDPE intake pipe and wet well shall be cleaned to remove an infestation of zebra mussels. Post-construction video inspection of the completed work at the screen and the interior of the intake pipe is required. An alternate bid item will be evaluated to replace the strainer screen in the water treatment plant. Each bid must be accompanied by a certified check or bank draft payable to the order of the Lower Brule Rural Water Service in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total bid. A bid bond in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the total bid will be accepted in lieu of a certified check or bank draft. Surety for bid bond must be authorized to do business in the State of South Dakota.
