The City of Shelby is accepting bids on a stormwater system repair project located near 425 Earl Rd. within the Gidney St. right-of-way in Shelby, NC. The project consists of repairing two offset joints each in a separate stormwater line. Repair a total of two offset joints each in a separate 12" RCP storm drain pipe segment within Gidney St. Offset joints shall be repaired by using concrete pipe collar per NCDOT 840.72. Each offset joint is located in the east bound lane approximately 6 ft from the edge of asphalt. If any pipe replacement is warranted, it will be addressed via a change order. The street cut shall be backfilled with at least 8" of compacted ABC stone and 4" of S9.5C asphalt. All edges shall be cut square with a saw. (City of Shelby Standard Detail 3.01). Contractor will be responsible for removal and replacing any soil that is deemed unsuitable. Compacted select backfill to 95% standard proctor in 6" lifts. Contractor will be responsible for setting up a work zone and traffic control needed for the work zone. When work is not actively taking place, the work area shall be made accessible with a steel plate or a temporary ABC stone utility patch. Contractor will be responsible for cleaning up and disposing of all construction materials from the project site upon completion of the project. Any disturbed areas shall be resowed with seeding and straw. The project shall be started within 21 days of a Notice to Proceed being issued.
