The Project includes the following Work: HMA base crushing and shaping, HMA paving, aggregate shoulders, slope restoration, and pavement markings. This project consists of rehabilitating Imperial Heights Road. The repairs in general consist of trenching, berm grading, HMA base crushing and shaping, HMA paving, aggregate shoulders, associated restoration items and traffic control work. The project area is located on Imperial Heights Road and begins 240' south of US-41 centerline (Station 0+00), The P.O.B. is located at station 2+40, the work zone proceeds southerly approximately 2,420' (P.O.E. station 26+60) to just east of the Imperial Heights Road and Red Road intersection. The Contractor shall construct butt joints at the P.O.B. and P.O.E. and at all intersecting roads of the project. Payment for this work will not be made separately but will be considered as part of the item "HMA Base Crushing and Shaping". HMA Base Crushing and Shaping will be done in accordance to Section 305 of the 2020 MDOT Standard Specifications for Construction. Depth of pulverizing is estimated to be 8 inches but may be increased on the high side of the superelevation's if additional aggregate is added by the Road Commission prior to crushing operations. HMA Base Crushing and Shaping will be paid in accordance to the typical sections at a width of 22 feet. However, the Contractor shall grade and compact the crushed and shaped surface to a 30 foot width (shoulder hinge point to shoulder hinge point). No additional payment will be made to shape and compact the additional 8 feet. Excess crushed material shall be used on the shoulders and shall be included in the item "HMA Base Crushing and Shaping". The Issuing Office for the Bidding Documents is: U.P. Partial sets of Bidding Documents will not be available from the Issuing Office. Neither Owner nor Engineer will be responsible for full or partial sets of Bidding Documents, including addenda, if any, obtained from sources other than the Issuing Office. Bid security shall be furnished in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. The Bid Bond or certified check payable to Owner shall be in an amount no less than 5% of the maximum bid as a guarantee, that if the Bid is accepted, the Bidder will execute and file the Contract, Performance and Payment Bonds, and Insurance Certification, as required by the Contract Documents within (10) days after the Notice of Award and Bid may not be withdrawn for a period of 30 days after the bid deadline. The Owner reserves the right to waive any informality or to reject any or all bids.
