Site work for a playground / park / athletic field in Battle Creek, Michigan. Completed plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.
The City is soliciting proposals from qualified firms to provide restoration services to the "Welcome to Battle Creek" wall, fountain system, and the Sojourner Truth Monument located at Monument Park, 110 Michigan Ave E., in Battle Creek, MI The "Welcome to Battle Creek" stonewall and fountain system was originally constructed in 1997/98 as part of the Monument Park project. Although the fountain was updated several years ago, other than occasional cleaning and sealing of the fountain pools, an overall renovation to the structure has not happened. Before submitting a proposal, firms shall carefully examine the scope of work and shall fully inform themselves as to all existing conditions and limitations and shall indicate in the proposal all items requested. This project shall provide an overall restoration to our nearly 25 yr old destination markers for Battle Creek. The scope of work for the "Welcome to Battle Creek" wall/fountain shall include: Thorough cleaning/power washing the entire structure Tuck-pointing the mortared stone veneer joints Re-caulking the precast concrete joints Sealing the stones. Removing the iron deposits and stains from the stone veneer Waterproofing the fountain pools Updating the flood and fountain lighting to LED Replacing the cover to the pump house Evaluating the piping inside the pump house for efficiencies The scope of work for the Sojourner Truth monument shall include: Thorough cleaning/power washing the entire structure Tuck-pointing the mortared stone veneer joints Recaulking the precast concrete joints Powder coating the handrail, light covers, Updating the lighting to LED Resetting the brick pavers Restoring the bronze plaques Repairing the cracks in concrete Restoring the concrete finish Restoring the sculpture finish TECHNICAL QUESTIONS to Chris Huff, clhuff@battlecreekmi.gov
