Springville City provides wastewater treatment at its Wastewater Treatment Plant located at 500 West 700 North. Treated water is discharged under permit from the Division of Water Quality to Utah Lake. The plant is designed for a population of 49,000 by the year 2030 and has undergone significant modifications in 2010 and 2020. The present average flow is 4 million gallons a day (MGD) with a future design flow of 6.6 MGD. The treatment processes consist of head works, primary clarifiers, trickling filters, aerators, primary and secondary chemical addition, secondary clarifiers, sand filters, UV disinfection, chlorine contact basins, dissolved air flotation sludge thickening, anaerobic sludge digesters, belt press, sludge drying beds and composting. As part of this master plan, the City requires an evaluation of the current treatment system design, an assessment of the capacity and condition of the equipment and buildings, replacement options of the methane collection and off-gas system, potential upsizing of the head works, and an assessment of the electrical systems.
