Bloore Pond was built in 2004 and services an area of 740 hectares. Stormwater ponds are designed to provide flood control and remove pollutants from the storm runoff prior to being discharged to natural rivers and streams. The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks regulates the design and approval of stormwater management facilities within Ontario as part of the Environmental Protection Act and Ontario Water Resources Act. The Environmental Compliance Approval for Bloore Pond requires that the City maintains storage in the pond. The trapped pollutants and sediments within the stormwater pond gradually accumulate and eventually requires dredging and removal to restore its full functionality for flood and erosion control, and water quality treatment. The measured amount of sediments accumulated within Bloore Pond is estimated at 14,000 cu.m and requires cleanout. The Contractor will provide the service of stormwater management pond cleanout for Bloore Pond T29. Documents can be obtained at: https://brampton.bidsandtenders.ca
