Per the owner, as of April 3, 2024, design is 65% completed. The owner states that this project is anticipated to advertise for bids in the summer of 2025. Owner states that construction is anticipated to begin in the fall/winter of 2025 and the bridge is to be replaced during the spring/summer of 2026. The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works (County) is proposing to replace the existing bridge (California Department of Transportation [Caltrans] Bridge No. 49C0384) on Toro Creek Road over Toro Creek in the northern portion of San Luis Obispo County. The County has obtained the necessary field survey work and geotechnical engineering recommendations, and has completed a partial design of the new bridge. As part of the proposal, the Proposer will provide a recommended work scope based on its review of the partial design. The work scope will include all necessary components requested to complete the design process including a the bridge type selection, submittal of a 95% design, and finally based on staff comments, a submittal of the 100% design which will include technical specifications and an Engineer's Estimate of probable costs. The federal lead agency for the project is the Federal Highway Administration with oversight from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 5 Division of Local Assistance. The project shall fully comply with Chapter 6 of the Local Assistance Programs Guidelines (LAPG) and the entire Local Assistance Procedures Manual (LAPM).
