Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Vancouver, British Columbia. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a clubhouse / community center; and educational facility.
Construction of a mixed-use development, with the lower levels containing the Indigenous youth hub spanning 50,000 sq ft of floor area, including classrooms, media labs, lecture areas, trades workshop, study areas, a student lounge and library, arts studios, community spaces for elders, traditional ceremony spaces, health and wellness clinic, and gym and recreation areas. The new centre will be a permanent purpose-built space for UNYA and the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology (NVIT) Vancouver campus. Site: Southwest corner of the intersection of East Hastings Street and Commercial Drive TIMELINE: Preliminary planning is underway. With approval of the concept plan, the provincial government will also provide $2.5 million for the business-case development to finalize the project's scope, timelines and funding sources. Further update in late fall 2022. *The centre will be operated by UNYA, with partners NVIT and yet-to-be determined housing and child care operators that will be engaged through the City of Vancouver. *Construction budget is unreleased at this time.
