Site work for a road / highway in Burlington, Ontario. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway.
The City of Burlington has identified a failing Concrete Retaining Wall along the Northern Bank of Rambo Creek, immediately downstream of the Martha Street Crossing. The Retaining Wall is in need of immediate replacement to protect private property (431 Martha Street). The retaining wall abuts up against lower Rambo Creek and is located mainly on private property at 431 Martha Street, but also partially within the road Right of Way (ROW). The existing retaining wall structure is approximately 14 m long and 4-5 m high. The construction contract is for the replacement of the existing retaining wall structure with a new armourstone retaining wall, with a vegetated buttress installed along the toe of the new armourstone wall to provide toe erosion protection. The new retaining wall will transition into a second existing, cast-in-place, concrete retaining wall on the downstream end which is to remain and must be protected/stabilized during construction. Contractor's mandatory experience shall include similar creek works / slope stabilization / erosion control works / in existing urban settings with a value of not less than $400,000.
