The Riverside Police Department currently provides Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) assessments to any business that is interested in the service at no cost. Officers work with businesses and multi-housing units (apartment and townhome complexes) to provide recommendations on improvements to increase safety. The Riverside Police Department is proud to offer a new program called the Business Match Program. This program is offered through a grant provided by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The program is designed to offer safety and security measures to existing businesses within the city limits. The proposal will focus mainly on communities experiencing high crime rates. The funding provides businesses with safety measures they may not normally afford, thereby improving safety and deterring crime. Once a CPTED is complete, businesses may apply for funding through the Business Match Program to assist with the costs associated with the recommendations in the CPTED, such as, fencing, lighting, cameras and landscaping. Any cameras installed through this program would be linked with the city 'Genetec' system which allow police department personnel access to video for evidence gathering related to crime.
