Work will include the following: This project replaces the in water mooring components for the historic steam paddle-wheel tug Eppleton Hall including all chains and anchors. These mooring components are essential for holding the vessel safely in the water. The mooring system on the Eppleton Hall will be replaced with a new technology. The new system would include four square shaft helical anchors that would be screwed into the seabed and an energy absorbing rigging system. The new rigging system would consist of approximately the following: Anchor shackle: 25 tons Anchor chain: 45-foot 1 1/2-inch link chain Anchor cable shackle: 25 tons Anchor tensioning cable: 45-foot 7/8-inch cable The existing in-water mooring system is comprised of; one seven thousand, seven hundred pound (7,700 lb) anchor, a total of 125 feet of mooring chain and all associated shackles and hardware and will be salvaged and placed elsewhere in the park. The Eppleton Hall's helical anchors would be installed by a diver with support from a barge or boat. The anchors would be screwed into the seabed with a large drill. After the anchors are installed, the diver would assemble the mooring rigging by connecting the anchor rigging, energy absorbing rigging, mooring line, and mooring buoy. At this point the Eppleton Hall would have its existing mooring disconnected and the new mooring connected. 1. The Work includes replacement of the Eppleton Hall moorings by installing the new system then salvaging and relocating the existing system. The project will be constructed under a single prime contract. The project includes, but is not strictly limited to, the following primary components: a. Installation of the replacement Eppleton Hall mooring system. b. Salvage and relocation of the existing Eppleton Hall mooring system to the center of the Aquatic Park within the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park. 2. Damage to surrounding existing structures, historic resources, and environmental resources shall be prevented. All damage that dose occur shall be restored including, but not limited to, repair and replacement of structures, historic resources, and environmental features. Where repair by restoration is not possible, mitigation will be established.
