As of September 27, 2023, a general contractor was awarded and construction has begun. The Department of Public Works received a request from residents to explore safety improvements and a new sidewalk on Shore Rd between Tomac Ave and Sound Beach Ave. This is a heavily family-oriented neighborhood with multiple bus stops for elementary through high school aged children. $750,000 request for installation of new sidewalk on Shore Road in Old Greenwich between Tomac Avenue and Sound Beach Avenue. While the sidewalk is the main focus of this project, additional improvements could include improved signage, drainage, striping, and roadway alignment. These improvements are all meant to maximize pedestrian safety by removing all pedestrian traffic from the roadway. Design will be completed by DPW staff. This project is included in the Town of Greenwich's FY 2023-2027 CIP. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
