The project work will occur throughout the occupied B Wing of the Chilliwack General Hospital, which was built circa 1958. The B Wing houses critical care services including ICU, Surgical Rooms, Cardiology, and Pharmacy along with office space serving administration, bio medical, and clinical services. Although partial plumbing upgrades were completed in 2010, the remainder of the plumbing infrastructure is original and now considered end-of-life by VFA and causing maintenance and operational issues. As a result, Fraser Health is moving forward with a plumbing and sanitary infrastructure renewal project in Chilliwack General Hospital B Wing to upgrade all end-of-life pipework, convert existing space to washrooms, and install new washroom fixtures. Works are to take place on the western portion of B Wing on Levels 1, 2, 3, and 4. In Scope Replacement of hot and cold domestic water services to main distribution header Replacement of sewer system lines to 3ft outside of the building Replacement of rainwater lines within the building Consolidation of main home runs into new risers and manifolds were possible Removal of abandoned or obsolete piping where practicable New roof penetrations Making good of affected work areas Establish new and upgrade existing washroom facilities on levels 2, 3 and 4 Replacement of fixtures including WCs, sinks, faucets, lavatories etc. Minor lighting and electrical works are anticipated with the new washroom development.
