COTA Health Cota is an accredited, not-for-profit, community-based organization that has been supporting adults with mental health and cognitive challenges to live well within their communities for over 45 years. COTA Health proposes the interior renovation of their existing 2-storey building at 1266 Danforth Ave, Toronto, ON, to convert the building into a Crisis Care Centre. The existing building is approximately 1,450 square feet, two-storeys plus basement. The scope of work includes but is not limited to the following: The second floor will be converted from two existing residential suites into five residential suites complete with individual bathroom ensuites. The ground floor and basement will be converted from an existing restaurant into space to support the residents. The purposed ground floor includes a shared new living space, a catering kitchen and offices. The proposed basement will provide washrooms, storage, laundry facilities and mechanical/electrical space. The existing interior partitions and building systems will, in large part, be removed. New partitions, finishes and mechanical/electrical systems will be provided to suit. The existing wood framed structure will remain largely intact. Minor structural work will involve lintels, new beams, and minor framing modifications. The existing slab on grade at the rear of the building will be removed and replaced. No changes to the exterior envelope are proposed except replacement of the storefront glazing, and minor patch and repair of the roof.
