The Town of Hay River is requesting proposals from qualified contractors for the supply of construction services to complete various recreation and greenspace repairs and remediation. The following is a description of the work to be completed by the successful bidder:
a. Rotary Trail cleanup and repairs
i. Installation of replacement interpretive sign (supplied by THR) at base of hill near DJSS parking lot. Sign provided by THR includes 4x4 posts and frame.
ii. Install 1 pedestal table and 1 park bench as per manufacturer’s instructions– see appendix B for specifications of furnishings.
iii. Removal of trees as identified by the Town of Hay River - will include trees that are encroaching on trail and/or affecting lighting.
iv. Resurface trail with aggregate or mulching (gravel in high ground sections and mulch in lower sections susceptible to flooding) b. Irma Miron trail
i. Install one 400mm culvert (supplied by THR). Culvert will need to be cut to length by contractor.
ii. Undertake approx.. 150m of ditch grading in vicinity of new culvert.
iii. Machine and/or hand work to repair shoulders of trail as required.
iv. Brush silt and debris from trail.
v. Prepare asphalt for crack sealing.
vi. Crack seal asphalt.
vii. Removal of trees as identified by the Town of Hay River - will include trees that are encroaching on trail and/or affecting lighting.
viii. Removal of deadfall within the view of the public using the trail. c. West Channel Playground
i. Install a safe fall zone (supplied by THR) for existing playground equipment. Install as per manufacturer’s instructions. d. Ski Club Trails Remediation – see Appendix B for trail map
i. Repair slope of access path that leads from golf course hole 6 to river crossing for ski club Solitude Trail – see map.
ii. Major tree removal, brushing and cleanup required on final 500m at exit of Ric Green Trail – see map.
iii. Perform a one-time mechanical brushing and mulching of remaining trails on west side of river. Eliminate any potential hazards to users, opening trail width to 12 feet wherever possible. e. Procurement and installation of replacement park furnishings at following locations - see appendix A for specifications of furnishings.
i. KFN Ice Crossing (1 table, 1 bench and 1 bearproof garbage can)
ii. Airport Trail (4 benches and 2 tables)
iii. Paradise Gardens (2 benches)
iv. Cranberry and Scout’s Trail day-use area (1 table and 1 firepit) f. Planting of 6’-10’ ornamental trees - see appendix C for site plans
i. Capital Drive (high rise side, in front of Court House – 12 trees)
ii. Hay River Community Centre (row of 12 trees along sidewalk)
