This statement of work describes treatment to control the invasive vine Japanese Hops (Humulus japonicus). Reconnaissance and spot spraying will be conducted on 95 acres at the Root River Tract. All areas are on US Fish and Wildlife Service fee title land that is part of the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge. Treatment locations and access points are shown in the attached maps. All Japanese hops within these treatment areas should be treated with glyphosate approved for use in aquatic areas at a minimum rate of 1.25 quarts per acre, or 2.5% in solution, applied as a foliar spray to all leaf surfaces. Herbicide applications should result in total kill of all Japanese hops within the treatment area at the time of treatment. Mechanical application equipment may be used but equipment must be set up in a way to prevent damage to desired vegetation outside of the treatment areas. Each project unit will be treated with backpack sprayers or spray tank application of herbicide, Boom or boomless spraying is not permitted. One initial sweep and a follow up sweet, not less than two weeks later to catch any missed plants or re-sprouts. Complete the follow up application before the Japanese Hops goes to seed or 10/15/22, whichever comes first. ATV/UTV equipment is acceptable. Est.
