The Tanglewood property consists of approximately 135 acres, bounded by the railroad right-of-way, Zug Road, a stream, and the Northridge subdivision. This site has expansive existing natural trails throughout. The existing trail system requires significant maintenance to be considered safe. The Tanglewood property represents a significant resource to the City of Bowie in terms of potential public use. The current state of the property, without a clearly defined plan and function, has led to uses that are not compatible with park usage or nearby residential areas. Examples of past inappropriate uses include; hunting, discharging of weapons, use of motorized dirt bikes, and illegal dumping including vehicles. Concerted effort will need to be made to create synergy between desired uses and security enhancements.
