Remodeling of an educational facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. Completed plans call for the remodel of a educational facility.

Scope of Work: The project intent is to remodel a 3,800 sf portion of Building 379 as an interim location for Anesthesiology Bioengineering & Simulation. The new location in Building 379 will house OR and ICU simulation rooms to train and test medical residents and continuing education classes. The Bioengineering Department from the School of Medicine will be given an adjacent space as part of the remodel. Most of the existing floor, ceiling and cabinetry finishes, as well as plumbing and electrical lines will remain as-is. New paint, cabinetry & sink, interior windows, medical oxygen, air, gas, CO2, Nitrogen, electrical, and audiovisual lines and equipment will be installed to assist in the real-life training needed by medical residents, class members, and bioengineering students. Persons or companies bidding on this project shall hold a current Utah Contractor's License covering the type of work to be done and shall be bondable to the amount of the Contract. A bid bond in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid amount, made payable to The University of Utah, must be procured and submitted to the University of Utah within 24 hours after the bid due time. Construction Constraints: 1) The building will remain in operation during construction. Contractors will be required to maintain cleanliness, contain dust, and avoid dust/debris when travelling in/out of construction areas. Any construction activity creating loud noise or vibration must be coordinated with the facility staff in advance. COVID requirements must be strictly followed at all times. 2) Disruption of occupants within the building must be minimized with no unplanned disruptions. Advance communication is essential. 3) There is extremely limited staging area at the project site. 4) There is limited access and minimal parking on the existing site for this project. Refer to the university website for parking fees. Refer to the addendum for possible options for staging and parking. 5) Prior GC experience in the last 5 years is required with medical: oxygen, air, gas, CO2, nitrogen. 6) It is the responsibility of the GC to obtain a license for Plan Grid and to use PlanGrid and Unifier software programs as directed. 7) The project is subject to the University of Utah General Condition's 2020 and can be found on our web site. The University of Utah reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any formality or technicality in any bid in the interest of the University.
