Bids are invited upon the items and quantities of work as follows: Major Work Items Tons, estimated 1. S19.0 Superpave [Overlay, 2-inch nominal, see attached map for locations] 1,600 2. B9.5 Superpave [Full Depth Patching, 6-inch nominal, approximately 50 patches] 180 All work will be done in accordance with the technical specifications of the North Carolina Department of Transportation. Work includes edge milling adjacent to existing streets not included in the contract, concrete curb and gutter and adjacent to existing driveways to insure smooth transition from the new pavement surface to existing concrete driveways when applicable. Full depth patches will be installed prior to overlay of surface. All other incidentals are included in the bid. Taper and radius from the intersection of adjoining streets and milling providing for a smooth transition by use of a butt joint is included in the work. Cash, Bid Bond, Certified Cashier's Check on a bank insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation made payable to the City of Archdale, North Carolina in the amount of Five Percent (5%) of the total bid must accompany all proposals in order to guarantee compliance with the provisions of the proposal. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids as may in the judgment of the Council of the City of Archdale serve its best interests and to waive irregularities and informalities in any bid submitted. The City may at its discretion increase the quantity of work requested under this contract by up to 25%. Bids may be held by the City Council of the City of Archdale for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days from the date of opening bids for the purpose of reviewing the bids and investigating the qualifications of bidders. The contractor will be required to post a performance bond and a payment bond for One Hundred Percent (100%) of the amount of his contract when the contract is awarded. The standard City of Archdale contract will be signed upon Council award. The contractor shall carry (a) Workmen's Compensation insurance in statutory amounts and employer's liability of not less than $1,00,000.00, (b) auto liability including non-ownership and hired car in amount of not less than $1,000,000.00 combined single limit, (c) comprehensive general liability of not less than $2,000,000.00 CSL and including (1) premises/operations and (2) broad form contractual liability. The Contractor shall provide the City with a Certificate of lnsurance evidencing these required coverages and naming the City as an additional insured before work begins. An endorsement with the following language shall be added to the required insurance policy: "It is understood and agreed that in consideration of the terms and conditions of the policy to which this endorsement is attached, the City of Archdale is recognized as an additional named insured under this policy."
