Site work and paving for a transportation facility in Richmond, Virginia. Conceptual plans call for site work for a transportation facility; and for paving for a transportation facility.
The first phase of this project, completed in FY2021, was obstruction removal to comply with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Virginia Department of Aviation (VA DOAV) regulations that require a clear and unobstructed approach to airport runways. Land acquisition for required easements, funded by sufficient project balances, is underway and will continue through FY2024. The second phase of the runway extension will begin in FY2024, with 98 percent of the project cost covered by the FAA and VA DOAV. Work will begin in FY2024 to design the extension and complete wetland mitigation. Relocation of a major gas line and lowering of power lines is slated for FY2024. Construction will begin in FY2025 and conclude in FY2026. No impacts to the operating budget are anticipated. Project is included Chesterfield County 2023-2027 CIP. As of May 9, 2023, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
