The City of Ames is accepting bids from qualified contractors for the fabrication and installation of Unit 7 Precipitator Hopper Enclosure at the Power Plant for the Electric Services Department. All responses must be submitted before the deadline. No late responses will be reviewed. No bidder may withdraw their bid for at least sixty (60) days after the scheduled closing time for receiving bids. The City of Ames reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to make such awards as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City. Project Description: The project is to enclose the space beneath the precipitator to retain heat during cold weather. The walls will be approximately 22 feet high using existing the structure vertical I beams as the footprint of the space. Aluminum lagging shall be attached to the I-beams. Two inches of fire-retardant, medium density (closed cell) spray foam shall be placed on the interior of the lagging. An insulated, manual roll up door, 8 feet in width, shall be centered with mid-point between the hoppers on the west side of the enclosure. The roll up shall have its operation chain on the inside of the structure. The walkthrough/passage door shall be next to the overhead door Overhead door shall be manufactured by: CHI Overhead doors, Overhead Door Corp., Cornell Iron, Raynor Garage Doors, or Haas Door Co. Aluminum lagging thickness minimum: Lagging for flatwork systems shall be 4-inch (100 mm) x 1.5-inch (38 mm) box rib panels. Minimum thickness shall be 0.04-inch (1.0 mm) for vertical and bottom surfaces, and 0.05-inch (1.25 mm) for top horizontal surfaces. Performance Bond: 100% Payment Bond: 100%
