Renovation of a mixed-use development in Allison, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
The work of this project located at the Allison School site includes modification to and extension of the existing fire alarm system to bring the school into code compliance. Partial replacement of the existing pneumatic temperature control system with a new direct digital control system. Installation of 3 rooftop air conditioning and gas heating units and associated ductwork to serve the Gym zone, the Dining area zone and the Auditorium zone. Removal of air handling equipment and ductwork from the mechanical mezzanine by the Auditorium. Removal and replacement of the steam to water heat exchanger system also in this mechanical mezzanine. New support structure will be added to support two new roof top units along with new framing to support roof hatches and ladders. A new bulkhead will be added to the existing Auditorium space to hide the new supply ductwork. Project Locations: a. 513 Birch St - Allison, Iowa 50602 b. 201 N 5th St - Greene, Iowa 50636 The work of this project located at the Green School site includes replacement of the existing rooftop chiller with a new similar unit. Along with new support structure underneath the new chiller. Construction Contract: A single bid will be received for the work of the Prime Bidder including the work of all subcontractors. Subcontractors of all construction trades shall submit bids to the Prime Bidders. Bid security shall be submitted with each bid in an amount not less than five percent ( 5% ) of the bid amount. Bid security shall be in a separate envelope in the form of a bid bond, a certified check, or a cashier's check payable to North Butler Community School District. If a bid bond is used for security, it must be signed by both the bidder and the surety (or surety's agent supported by accompanying Power of Attorney). Such bid security shall be retained by the District as liquidated damages in the case the successful bidder shall fail or refuse to enter into a contract for the construction of the work, furnish the required bonds, and/or meet the requirements of this Notice and the specifications regulating the award. No bid may be withdrawn for a period of 60 calendar days following the date of the opening of bids. Bidders must be properly licensed under the laws governing their respective trades and be able to obtain insurance and bonds required for the work. Bidders' Questions: Architect will provide responses to bidders' questions at the Prebid Meeting if received 48 hours in advance. A Public Hearing will be conducted on the proposed plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimate of cost for the construction of the above-described project at 6:00 PM on Monday, October 10, 2022 at the North Butler CSD Elementary School Media Center, located at 513 Birch St., Allison, Iowa. Mechanical unit procurement shall start once the contracts are finalized and shop drawings are reviewed. The work shall commence once the school has dismissed for the summer (scheduled for May 24, 2023). All work is to be substantially complete and units up and running by the start of the next heating season September 29, 2023. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond and a Payment Bond within ten (10) days after award in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price. Before the work is commenced, a conference shall be held to discuss the contract. The conference shall be attended by the Prime Contractor, Subcontractors, District Representatives and the Architects and Engineers. Shipping: Additional, non-refundable shipping charges of $25.00 per set will apply to shipped documents. Provide a separate check made payable to North Butler Community School District. The District reserves the right to reject any and all bids, re-advertise for new bids, and to waive informalities and irregularities in the bids submitted. PN - 19052.1, 22-078
