Renovation of a detention facility in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a detention facility.

The Fort Correctional Facility (FDCF)located at 1550 L Street, Fort Iowa is seeking Bids to install new fiber cabling at the prison campus. The Fort Correctional Facility (FDCF) is a medium security prison originally designed to house 762 adult male Incarcerated Individuals in a double occupancy celled environment. Construction began in October 1996 and the facility opened in April 1998. The facility is located on 60 acres of land in southern Fort . Recognizing the on-going need for public safety even before the first offenders arrived at the facility the legislature and Governor approved an expansion for an additional 400 beds and program space. Work on this addition was completed in late 1999. In FY01 127 two-man cells were converted to house three offenders. Current rated capacity is 1162 with actual capacity of 1362. The networking needs at FDCF have continued to increase over the years with more computer networking needs, video conferencing, and recently a conversion of our analog camera system to IP cameras. FDCF had an analog camera count of approx. 142 cameras running on copper coax. We have successfully upgraded approximately half of those to various types of IP cameras. Video conferencing and video visiting have also become more common over the past two years. Our future demand to increase live streaming 4K cameras, telephone, video conferencing, along with the original office and building management systems is beyond what our current fiber can support.
