Demolition and site work for a mixed-use development in Johnson City, Tennessee. Completed plans call for the demolition of a industrial development; for site work for a industrial development; and sidewalk / parking lot.

For the demolition of buildings and supporting improvements on the grounds of the Harman Ice & Cold Storage, Inc. located at 724 West Walnut Street. Major demolition items consist of two industrial buildings and asphalt driveway and parking lot excluding base stone. Analytical results indicate that asbestoscontaining materials (ACMs) are present on site. Other demolition work will involve removal of concrete slabs and footings, steel bollards, CMU block retaining wall, an outdoor refrigeration unit, railroad track including crossties, removal and abandonment of storm drainage systems, and all associated facility overhead and underground utilities. Final rough grading is included in the project but seeding is not included under this contract. All bidders are required to purchase one bound copy of the BIDDING DOCUMENTS. Bids may be held for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days from the date of the bid opening for the purpose of reviewing the bids and investigating the qualifications of bidders prior to awarding of the contract. No bidder may withdraw his or her bid within sixty (60) days after the actual opening of the bid thereof. No bid will be opened unless the outside of the sealed envelope containing the bid provides the following information: (1) contractor's license number, (2) expiration date thereof, (3) the license classification verification for the type of construction herein described, (4) the contractor's contact person, (5) the contact person's telephone number. The same items of information shall also be provided on the envelope for each subcontractor that will be constructing more than $25,000.00 of work. If the value of the subcontractor's Bid is less than $25,000.00, the bid envelope must show the phrase, "Subcontractor's Bid is Less Than $25,000.00," for each appropriate subcontractor. In the case of joint ventures, this information must be provided by each party submitting the bid. If engineering, surveying, materials testing, or other technical service providers are to be used by the CONTRACTOR, each company must be listed on the outside of the sealed bid envelope, regardless of the dollar value of work to be done by them. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 62, amended by Chapter 9 and Chapter 406 of the Public Works Act of 1977, shall also apply. Each bid shall be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond in the amount equal to five percent (5%) of the amount bid. This check or bid bond is required as a guarantee that, if the bid is accepted, a contract will be entered into and the performance thereof duly secured by an approved performance bond. The successful bidder will be required to furnish an acceptable Performance Bond and a Payment Bond in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, each bond. Surety companies executing Bonds must appear on the U.S. Treasury Department's most current list (circular 570) as amended and be authorized to transact business in the State of Tennessee. The City of Johnson City reserves the right to waive any informality in or to reject any or all bids, and to accept the bid deemed favorable to the interest of the City of Johnson City. The City of Johnson City in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964,78 Stat. 252, 42 U.S.C. 2000d to 2004d-4 and Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations, Department of Transportation, subtitle A, Office of the Secretary, Part 21, nondiscrimination in federally assisted programs of the Department of Transportation issued pursuant to such Act, hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively insure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, disadvantaged business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color or national origin in consideration for an award.
