Demolition and site work for a residential development in Hanover, Maryland. Completed plans call for the demolition of a residential development; and for site work for a residential development.
**As of November 03 ,2022, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for award has not yet been established.** This includes conducting a survey in sufficient scope and detail to allow for eventual specification of the removal or special handling of identified hazardous and regulated materials. The residence at 7120 Forest Avenue is a two-story single-family home with a basement. The date of construction is unknown. The exterior of the frame building is composed of a concrete masonry block (CMU) foundation on concrete slab with aluminum siding over transite shingle siding and asphalt shingle roof. Observed Ouilding finish materials included: plaster and drywall walls and ceilings, hardwood floors, sheet flooring, floor tile, spline ceilings and metal and wood doors. The interior of the house had been infested with racoons and was in poor condition. Hazardous and regulated materials are expected to exist in the buildings. AE conducted a field survey and quantified asbestos-containing materials (ACM), lead, polychlorinated biphenyls, mercury-containing devices, ozone-depleting substances, and other regulated or universal hazardous wastes on a room-by-room basis. The survey for hazardous materials at 7120 Forest Avenue indicated the presence of hazardous or regulated materials that will require proper packaging and disposal prior to demolition. Our recommendations are presented below: | 1. Remove and dispose of drywall with asbestos-containing joint compound located on the second floor of the house. | 2. Remove and dispose of asbestos-containing sheet flooring, floor tile and mastic located | in the kitchen. : 3. Remove and dispose of asbestos-containing transite shingle siding. , 4. Recover refrigerant, remove and dispose of refrigerant-containing equipment. | 9. Remove and dispose of smoke detectors as a low-level radioactive source. | 6. Removal and disposal of fluorescent lamp ballasts that do not have a No-PCBs label as PCB waste. 7. Removal and disposal of mercury-containing fluorescent lamps as universal waste. 8. Removal and disposal of the mercury-containing thermostat located in the living room as : universal waste. | . Arepresentative sample of demolition waste should be tested by Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) for the hazardous waste characteristic Of toxicity due to the presence of lead. A detached metal shed is also located on the property. The property is identified as Parcel 562, Subdivision 444, Lot 37, on Anne Arundel County Tax Map 8 and contains +/- .86 acre of flat partially wooded land (Figure 1). The property is +/- 350 feet by +/- 90 feet.
