The Berkeley campus of the University of California requests that interested firms submit written statements of qualifications to provide Executive Architectural services for the Jones Childcare Kitchens and Restrooms renovation. All sub-consultants, such as, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, etc. can be recommended now but will be later selected in collaboration with the Executive Architect firm. The Jones Childcare center comprises of two one-story wood framed buildings which are the administrative and laboratory buildings. The laboratory building which is approximately 5,000 square feet houses the childcare facilities. It has a V seismic performance level and needs a seismic retrofit as well as a facility upgrade. 1. Add a new central kitchen with washer and dryer 2. Convert the existing kitchens to cubbies and storage space 3. Renovate the restrooms 4. Upgrade the mechanical and ventilation system for the renovated spaces as well as overall building performance 5. Seismic Retrofit work 6. Add security gates 7. Refresh all interior spaces in the Laboratory (Childcare) Building (not Administrative Building) 8. Code triggered upgrades for Accessibility and Fire Life Safety 9. Cost estimates for the study options Based on the cost estimates of the study options, the design team will complete the design and produce 100% construction documents and specifications as well as construction administration services for multi-phase construction. The remaining phases of design will be subject to plan check review by UC Berkeley plan reviewers and the Seismic Review Committee and peer reviewer.
