To design and construct a covered structure over the batting cages at the Chester L. Davis Sportsplex. This covered structure would go over the open air batting cages next to the Sportsplex Little League Fields. There are two options for this project. Option 1 would entail the following: Demo of existing electrical, steel iron truss building (includes installation, foundations, contractor mark-up, and windstorm certification), electrical and lighting, irrigation modifications, and sod strips over disturbed areas. Total cost of this option would be $326,560. Option 2 would be a covered canopy structure that would provide shade and new lighting. Total cost of this option would be $162,000. Having a covered structure over the batting cages would protect users from the environment during the Spring, Summer, and Fall Baseball seasons. League City Little League has committed $25,000 towards the cost of this project. League City Little League prefers Option 1. The project is included in the city's 2023-2027 capital improvement plan (CIP).
