Renovation of a mixed-use development in Cheshire, Connecticut. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
update : A total of $100,000 is requested in 2024-25 to design and $1,650,000 requested in 2026-27 to replace the antiquated fire alarm systems at Cheshire High School and Doolittle Elementary School. Replacement parts for both systems are difficult to obtain and replacing these systems before they begin failing is of utmost importance. In addition, current fire alarms systems do not meet the current NFPA requirements/specifications for device coverage and are currently grandfathered. Capital request considers approved design, system installation, demolition of the old system after commissioning of the new system and labor premiums for off-hours construction (2nd shift) Project is in Town of Cheshire capital budget fy 2024-2025 CIP _________________________________________________________________________________ UPDATE : https://cdnsm5-hosted.civiclive.com/UserFiles/Servers/Server_8580856/Image/Government/Finance/BUDGET%20PLAN%20DOCUMENT%20FOR%20WEBSITE.pdf A total of $1,850,000 is requested to design and begin replacing the antiquated, non-addressable fire alarm systems at Cheshire High School and Doolittle Elementary School. Replacement parts for both systems are difficult to obtain and replacing these systems before they begin failing is of utmost importance : Project is in Town of Cheshire capital budget fy 2023 -2024 CIP 326 ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A total of $2,250,000 is requested to design and begin replacing the antiquated, non-addressable fire alarm systems beginning with Dodd in 22-23, Doolittle in 24-25 and Cheshire High School in 25-26. While the current systems in those schools are still functional, they do not support any additional capacity to add output devices such as horns or strobes and more importantly, we are having increased difficulty in getting repair/replacement components to keep them running properly. Upgrading these systems will provide important additional features such as addressable supervisory points which decreases the alarm source identification time and remote annunciators that are placed in key areas of the building to further assist 1st responders and occupants during an emergency. Project is included Town of Cheshire FY 2022 - 2027 Budget CIP. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
