The City of Sterling is requesting Statements of Qualifications for professional engineering services for the planning, design, and construction phases of a proposed Quiet Zone improvement along the Union Pacific Railroad within the City. The goal of the Study is to determine the feasibility of establishing a Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) compliant railroad quiet zone for the City of Sterling. The FRA enacted rules that regulate railroad locomotive train horns at public grade crossings. The rule allows communities to enact local quiet zones provided that a minimum level of safety is maintained.
