The Districts South Phoenix Drainage Improvement Project Feasibility Study evaluated the watershed generally bounded by 43rd Avenue to the west, Central Avenue to the east, South Mountain Avenue to the south and the Salt River to the north. The study identified and compared alternative solutions to mitigate flooding hazards in the watershed and selected a recommended plan. Plan elements included several detention basins and a storm drain system to provide an outfall to the Salt River. The project consists of constructing storm drains and two basins for both the east wash (Highline Basin) and the northeast wash (Carver Basin). The basins and storm drain system will capture the 10-year return frequency. Project is currently under Right-of-Way acquisition process for the basins. This project is in included in the City's or County's FY 2022-2026 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).
