Rules for award: The Town will award the bid to the responsive and responsible bidder offering the lowest price for the services specified in this invitation for bid (IFB). The Town will only consider responsive bids from responsible bidders for a contract award. A responsive bid is one which complies fully with all submission requirements stated in this IFB. Any bid which does not comply with all submission requirements may be rejected as non-responsive. A responsible bidder is one who demonstrably possesses the skill, ability, and integrity necessary to faithfully perform the work called for in this procurement and meets the requirements of Massachusetts law. Bids should be submitted in a sealed envelope clearly marked "Station #1 Painting". Bidders are reminded that mail/parcel delivery to Martha's Vineyard can take longer than expected and the Town will not accept late bids. The contractor must furnish a payment bond in the amount of at least fifty percent (50%) of the contract price. The contractor has ten (10) days from the date of the notification of contract award to obtain the payment bond. Project Description: The Town of West Tisbury, through its Select Board, invites qualified responders to submit a bid for the painting and trim repair at the West Tisbury Fire Station #1, 551 Edgartown Rd.o Fire Station 1 Edgartown/West Tisbury Road: Exterior trim Remove all wooden trim using approved lead abatement methods. Replace with white PVC trim to resemble previous trim sizes, profile and appearance. Trim to be installed with stainless screws of appropriate length and frequency according to manufacturer's installation instructions. Trim joints to be sealed using manufacturers recommended adhesive sealant to produce a weather tight final surface. Fill nail and other holes with PVC plugs installed per manufacturer's installation instructions. Trim shall be applied over unbroken asphalt paper or ice and water barrier splines properly installed under existing or new adjacent shingles as needed to produce a weather tight finished joint. Replace Fascia Board to allow for installation of aluminum gutters Wood Gutters to be removed and replaced with white aluminum seamless half round gutters, hung from bar hanger with rod, downspout joints to be fastened with white aluminum pop rivets in order to minimize fastener protrusion into pipe to avoid clogging. 3" round down spouts to be conducted away from building into drains or splash blocks with consideration given to foot and vehicle traffic. The intent being to move/drain down spout discharge away from the foundation as much as possible. Remove and replace the existing transom window on the south gable wall with a visually similar clad window and replace vent above with triangle louvered gable vent Replace existing transom window and surrounding trim with visually similar window and trim details. Window will be single glazed if possible, with artificial divided lights. o There are two flashed over gutters one above and one below the window. Flashed gutter trim detail may be approximated to achieve a similar appearance. o Intention is to replace existing wood work with synthetic material, visually duplicate the gable end of the building and increase the size of the gable vent if possible. Crown molding to be installed above window East fire bay transom window is 12 feet long, window glass panes are 9 1/2 x 14" with 14 lights. There are two flashed over gutters one above and one below the window. Roof is a nine pitch Existing South gable vent is 30 x 8 1/2 " opening with louvers.
