The City of Lewes is seeking bids from qualified contractors with experience in historic structure renovations to make significant repairs to the Fisher Martin House circa 1730 located at 120 Kings Highway Lewes. This building is owned by the City of Lewes and is occupied and operated by the Lewes Chamber of Commerce. The City is seeking bids for repairs to the windows, siding, roof, and landscaping with historic replacement and historic replica replacement options. Bids should detail how the contractor plans to complete the work from start to finish including both historic and historic replica replacement options. Samples and/or pictures of proposed materials and where they are sourced should be included along with any product manufacturer details including install, warranty or construction details. A project construction timeline must also be submitted by the contractor and pricing for each section listed by option 1 and option 2. Contractors who are submitting bids will also need to submit a copy of Delaware Business License, proof of insurance, at least 3 references of similar completed projects, and a list of any and all subcontractors, vendors, or craftsman to be used that may perform work on the building or making any repairs or refurbishments to the windows, siding, roof, etc. The City has provided a scope of work with identified building issues. Measurements given are approximate and contractor is responsible for confirming measurements, sizes, quantities, lengths, etc. Pictures of issues are provided but not all are detailed. Contractor is responsible for inspecting areas prior to submitting bids. Built in the 1730s, moved to its current location in the City of Lewes in the 1980s and set on a new masonry foundation at that time. This historic structure is owned by the City of Lewes and operated by the Lewes Chamber of Commerce as a visitor center. The windows of the structure are wooden frame, single-paned, with clear glass. Window upgrades were last done in 2011. Exterior doors, siding and trim are wooden. The walls are a mixture of plaster and drywall, insulation is unknown.
