Renovation of a laboratory facility in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Completed plans call for the renovation of a laboratory facility.
This procurement will be conducted under the two-phase design-build process. The Electrical Power Capacity Upgrade (EPCU) project will increase capacity and improve reliability and resiliency of the import and internal electrical transmission system at LANL to successfully align with and meet the Department of Energy's (DOE) and National Nuclear Security Administration's (NNSA) strategic plan and mission. Projections for LANL's future electrical demand will exceed current import capacity from the existing electrical service lines by 2027. Specifically, this project will increase the import capacity of the LANL's current electrical transmission system to allow the import lines to meet future programmatic load growth with a system which has an acceptable reliability level and that is able to always withstand an unexpected failure or outage of a single system component (N-1 contingency reliability). This project will resolve increasing gaps in the electrical transmission and distribution system currently supporting the Lab. Additionally, any solution to this requirement will need to be compliant with the applicable Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)/North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Reliability Standards. Work will include both offsite and onsite requirements. Opportunity Amount: $250,000,000.00 to $500,000,000.00 USD *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
