Remodeling of an educational facility in Perry, Iowa. Completed plans call for the remodel of a educational facility.
For General Construction including Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing. The cost for the Work shall be included in a single lump-sum bid. Bids for portions of the Work will not be accepted. The General Contractor will be responsible for coordinating all Work. The Work will include, but is not limited to the following improvements: Demolition of the existing walk-in cooler/freezer equipment and surrounding concrete paving with replacement of the same. The project includes remodeling the existing kitchen and expanding the serving area into the existing dining area. Vertical and flat-work concrete, masonry, structural steel fabrications, openings, finishes, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, kitchen equipment, and site utility work are included in the Project. The Project is anticipated to start on March 19, 2023, following the Owner's receipt and approval of the required insurance and bonds. The Project shall achieve Substantial Completion on or before July 1, 2023. Bidders may seek clarifications on the Bid Documents and submit product substitution requests until 12:00 P.M. on the 1st of November 2022. Each bid shall be made on a form furnished by the Architect and must be accompanied by a certified check or cashier's check drawn on an Iowa bank or a bank chartered under the Laws of the United States, or a Bid Bond to be executed by a corporation authorized to contract as a surety in the State of Iowa, in the amount equal to five percent (5%) of the amount of the base bid, made payable to the Treasurer of the Perry Community School District. The five percent (5%) amount may be cashed by the Owner as liquidated damages in the event that the successful bidder fails to enter into a Contract and file a bond satisfactory to the Board of Education assuring the faithful fulfillment of the Contract and maintenance of said improvements as required by the law, the provisions of this Notice and the Contract Documents within ten (10) days after acceptance of the lowest responsible bid. All bids shall be sealed and plainly marked. Any alteration of the Bid Form may be cause for rejection of the bid. Bid Security of the two lowest Bidders will be retained until the contract has been awarded and executed, but no longer than 30 days. Bids will be required to be submitted under the condition of irrevocability for a period of 30 days after submission. The successful Bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond and Labor and Material Payment Bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract Sum, issued by a responsible Surety approved by the Board of Education and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the Contract and terms and conditions therein contained and the maintenance of said improvements pursuant to the provisions of the Contract Document. The bidder shall not include sales tax in the bid. A sales tax exemption certificate will be available for all material purchased for incorporation in the Project. Insurance requirements for the project shall be as noted in the Bidding Documents. Any Bidder, upon returning the documents in good condition within 10 days of the public opening of bids, shall be returned the deposit in full. The Board of Education reserves the right to accept or reject any or all Bids and waive informalities in Bidding.
